We were lied to. Cutting the cord didn’t do anything. It was great about a decade ago when you could pick and choose your streaming networks with your favorite shows. Then those in power hired people that understood the internet and the streaming platforms morphed into Cable 2.0.
Hulu and Disney+
I haven’t watched anything on either platform in forever. I always had issues logging into both and there was never a show that pulled me. I still haven’t watched Andor.
Netflix
I order this every so often for comedy specials. I recently ordered it for Ransom Canyon which wasn’t Yellowstone. The new season of Black Mirror lost me in the first ten minutes. Not that it was bad, I just couldn’t get into it. I canceled this streaming service again.
HBO Max
I’ve watched Bill Maher since I was a kid. The Pitt is the best thing on television in a long time. I’ll always have this streamer. It’s been in my phone bundle for ten years and I take it as a sign that it’s something everyone should just have.
Paramount/Showtime
I had it for 1923. I enjoyed Mobland, but I’ll come back to it when I return for the next Sheridan show. I haven’t followed a Showtime series since Ray Donovan. This is a combo I’ll only order for the amount of time it takes for the latest Sheridan show to run.
Apple+
I came back for Your Friends and Neighbors. I put on the free episode and it’s good. It’s Don Draper giving his trademark monologues from Mad Men. I didn’t realize I missed him talking until the first episode started. I can drop a show within minutes so it says something that I binged the first few episodes. Also, they’ve made Carl Hiaason’s Bad Monkey into a series with Vince Vaughn. If it’s anything like the book, it will be a hilarious show with a lot of South Florida.
I have no answers. I still like my shows a la carte but you have to watch it the way they’re dishing it out right now.
